These initial European meetings invite you to meet European writers and philosophers.

Berlin, Barcelona, Istanbul: Towards new cultural capitals

With writers: Peter Schneider (Germany), Carmen Riera (Spain), and Nedim Gürsel (Turkey).

Peter Schneider has been one of the most renowned and compelling German writers since 1968. Having spent more than 40 years living in Berlin he is the author of a trilogy based in Berlin Sauteur de Mur (Walljumper), La ville des séparations and Chute libre à Berlin.

Carmen Riera is a Spanish literature teacher and writer in Catalan and lives in Barcelona. Her best known novel is Dins el darrer blau, for which she received the Spanish literary award and La moitié de l’âme which won the Sant Jordi prize for Catalan literature.

Nedim Gürsel is a Turkish writer living in Paris teaching Turkish literature at La Sorbonne and INALCO. He divides his time between Paris and Istanbul which is a recurring theme in his written work. The banks of the Bosphorus are the melting pot of his work, marked by nostalgia and exile. His most recently translated novel into French is Sept Derviches (Seuil, 2010)

Meeting hosted by Antoine Spire. The French press and radio journalist and intellectual is all editorial advisor for Le Monde and Le Monde de l’éducation. Author of several books, he has participated in a number of collaborative works with thinks such as Pierre Bourdieu, Jacques Derrida and Edgar Morin.
